On Wednesday 28 December 2022 Sufi Innovation and Development Solution in partnership with Africa Study Centre Nigeria and Green Emission conducted a one-day Capacity building training on climate change and Renewable Energy, to various stakeholders from different parts of Nigeria and the Niger republic.
Dr Sufi Musa ASC presented a paper paper titled ‘Climate Change and Global Warning Science: It's impact on the World, Nigeria, lessons and the way forward.
Discussion revolves around how climate change is already impacting coastal and island communities in Africa through more frequent and intense extreme weather events, coastal erosion, sea level rise, saltwater intrusion, coral bleaching, and other impacts.
Addressing the way forward it highlighted how researching,developing,and deploying new and novel approaches to fight climate change, and engaging and encouraging innovation in African research institutions.
Mapping and analysis of ecosystem services,including economic production,carbon sinks and carbon dioxide removal potentials,and how it can generate policy space these activities,and more.
The second paper was presented on Green Economy: Clean Energy Drive for Nigeria's Energy Transition Plan towards Net Zero by Abubakar Shuaibu.
The opening remarks on the training was delivered by Professor Mansur Bako Matazu, the Director General/CEO of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet); represented by Oluwaseun Wilfred IDOWU (Technical Assistant to the Director-General/CEO NiMet).
